What is Tooth Whitening (bleaching) ?
Teeth Bleaching is a painless procedure that can lighten the tooth color up to four tones, provide the teeth with an aesthetic appearance, and takes for about 1 hour. Teeth whitening is quite different from polishing or teeth cleaning. In the whitening process, the color of the tooth is lightened by 2-4 tons by using gels containing whitening agents.
Tooth discoloration can have multiple causes. The factors we encounter frequently are,
- Nutritional Habits(consumption of colored drinks and colored foods such as coffee, tea)
- Tooth decay
- Antibiotic use
- Past dental operations
- Dental abnormalities
How long does the effect of teeth whitening last?
If the teeth are well taken care of, the permanence of the process can last up to 3-4 years. This period may vary depending on the structural differences in the teeth, diet and oral care routines.
What are the types of teeth whitening (bleaching)?
Teeth whitening (Bleaching) is basically applied in three different ways:
Office Type Bleaching:
Teeth whitening (bleaching application) performed by specialist physicians in our clinic using special agents. It is a painless procedure and is usually completed in as little as 1 hour.
Home Type Bleaching:
Home Type bleaching is done with the help of plaques and special whitening gel. Since these gels are applied by the patient, they are less dense than the agents used by dental specialist. The duration of treatment can generally last up to 6 weeks. This period may be longer depending on the tooth structure and stain level.
Office and Home Type Bleaching:
In this whitening method, office and home teeth whitening are combined together. It is possible to get more permanent and sustainable results according to the patient’s oral condition and expectation.
Is teeth whitening alone enough for an aesthetic smile?
Teeth whitening only makes the tooth lighten and appear whiter. When it comes to smile aesthetics, pink aesthetics, in other words, gum aesthetics, orthodontic treatments, prosthetic coating and surgical proceduresmay also be required.
